I am interested in starting a nonprofit. Can ESCC help?
ESCC works with nonprofits after they have received their nonprofit certification. There is, however, another organization that can assist you through the start-up phase. Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) volunteers can be reached at 513.684.2812513.684.2812.
How long has ESCC been operating?
ESCC was founded in 1995 and is part of a network of 26 affiliate agencies located across the United States. ESCC, like other affiliates, is locally operated and funded.
Why does ESCC require funding and from where does it come?
ESCC is a nonprofit and complies with the requirements of the IRS 501(c)(3) rules. All contributions to ESCC are tax deductible to those donors who must pay taxes. It is locally operated and funded through contributions from individuals, corporations, grants from a wide range of foundations, and client fees. Funds are used to support a small office staff and typical overhead expenses (rent, heat, light, phones, etc.) ESCC volunteer consultants are not compensated for their time either directly or indirectly.
What are the qualifications of ESCC consultants?
All ESCC consultants must have senior business experience which is transferable to the nonprofit organizations with which we work. Although some members are still employed, many are retired executives, managers, entrepreneurs and professionals who have chosen to donate their time and expertise to help community service organizations improve their effectiveness. ESCC assigns its members, according to their skills, to work on specific projects. Additionally, all our members receive training in working with nonprofits and related specialty areas.
Why are fees charged if volunteers do the work?
While it is true that ESCC volunteers are never paid, there are still nominal overhead expenses for staff, office space and the administrative needs of our organization. Client fees are determined by the scope of work required for the specific project or engagement.
How can I get more information about using ESCC to work with our organization?
